Terms of Service
These terms govern use of Fireside, a community for thoughtful perspectives.
Effective date: July 29, 2026 · Last updated: July 29, 2026
Service and acceptance
Fireside is the public-facing service and operator name. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Community Guidelines.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian where legally required. You must provide accurate account information and protect access to your account.
Community purpose
Fireside is a place for thoughtful community perspectives. Community responses are not verified and are not a replacement for professional legal, medical, financial, emergency, mental-health, or other qualified advice. You remain responsible for your decisions and outcomes.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give Fireside a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, copy, format, moderate, and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate and promote the service. This license ends when content is removed from active systems, except for copies reasonably retained in backups, safety records, or material shared by others.
Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully and follow the Community Guidelines. Do not harass others, expose personal information, post illegal or deliberately dangerous material, impersonate people, spam, manipulate community signals, evade restrictions, probe private data, disrupt the service, or misuse another person’s account.
Public anonymity
Public content is anonymous by design, but Fireside privately maintains account relationships for ownership, security, moderation, abuse prevention, and reputation. No online service can guarantee complete anonymity or prevent identification through details a user chooses to write.
Moderation
New content may receive automated publication screening. Reports are reviewed manually and do not cause punishment by themselves. Confirmed violations may result in content removal, a warning, temporary restriction, or permanent restriction. A user may submit one private appeal for each active restriction, but an appeal does not guarantee reversal or a particular outcome.
Account deletion
You may delete your account from Profile and choose whether associated Decisions and Perspectives should be removed where possible or remain publicly available without an account connection. Certain safety, legal, and backup records may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes
Fireside may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may update these Terms. The service is provided on an “as available” basis without a guarantee of uninterrupted access, perfect security, complete accuracy, safety, deletion, or any particular community or decision outcome.
Current and future pricing
Fireside is free at launch and currently has no advertisements. Fireside does not sell user data. Future versions may offer optional premium features, donations, or privacy-respecting advertising. Any paid terms or material privacy changes will be disclosed before they apply.
Responsibility and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for your use of community content and for losses caused by your unlawful conduct or breach of these Terms. Fireside does not exclude responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
Contact
